Please note The Iron Bridge & Seven Valley Tour can only be purchased as an 'open' voucher, meaning you book a flight date and time once you have received the voucher – ideal as that special gift!
This tour departs from the Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green Airport, Stourbridge, West Midlands, DY7 5DY.
You will be captivated by the Severn Valley rural area of mid-western England, with stunning vistas across the Wyre Forest and the extensive Shropshire Plain.
Gaze down on the symbolic Iron Bridge crossing The River Severn, the first arch bridge in the world to be made of cast iron, opened in 1781, then flying along you will come across Coalbrookdale.
Coalbrookdale is a village in the Ironbridge Gorge, a settlement of great significance in the history of iron ore smelting. Iron ore was first smelted by Abraham Darby here, using easily mined “coking coal”. It contained fewer impurities than normal coal, the iron it produced was of a superior quality. This was a major factor in the growing industrialisation of Britain, now known as the Industrial Revolution.
Tracking on to Bridgnorth, allowing you to see the High Town and Low Town nestled on a hill, you will then continue across to the West Midlands Safari Park.
Then it's down to the Wyre Forest – a large, semi-natural woodland and forest area measuring just over 26 square kilometres, spanning the borders of Worcestershire and Shropshire, then you fly on to Kinver Edge, owned by the National Trust a remnant of the Mercian forest.
Hopefully you will catch a view of the steam trains as they puff up the Severn Valley railway. Onwards to the large town of Kidderminster and the Clee Hills in Shropshire, which are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An unforgettable trip!
