This helicopter tour is available from The Craven Arms at Giggleswick, Settle as a 30 minute flight to cover the dramatic and wonderful Yorkshire Dales scenery. Departing from Settle the flight tracks north as far as Hawes and the Wensleydale Valley with return.
The helicopter will usually fly at an altitude of around 1500 feet, offering unrivalled views of some of the best and most famous scenery within the Yorkshire Dales.
The helicopter departs from The Craven Arms and routes up the River Ribble to Horton in Ribblesdale, a small village situated to the west of Pen-y-Ghent, you will continue flying over to Horton Moor to clip the left hand edge of Cam Woodlands and Dodd Fell. Widdale Fell is tracked over before banking right to turn over Hawes, England’s highest market town standing 850 feet above sea level, you can look out too for the famous Wensleydale Cheese factory. The name, Hawes, means a ‘pass between mountains’, as the market town stands between Buttertubs to the north and Fleet Moss. You will then follow the River Ure along the Wensleydale Valley. The helicopter will then turn just before the Village of Bainbridge to track up Raydale where you will see Semer Water, one of very few lakes in the Yorkshire Dales. Langstrothdale Chase, is then flown over and onto Fountains Fell before arriving back at Giggleswick via Langcliffe Scar.
