Every year around 1.39 million people choose to holiday in the Yorkshire dales. Combine stunning scenery like Kilnsey Crag and Gordale Scar, with the tranquility of a rural setting and country pubs stocked with fine ale, and it’s not hard to understand why the Yorkshire dales are such a popular holiday destination!
Camping In The Dales
There are a number of great camp sites in the dales, and Masons Campsite which is located on the banks of the Wharfe is definitely one of the best. In addition to Electrical Hookups and Wifi, the site also permits campfires and the nearby river Wharfe provides excellent fly fishing.
Tents, Caravans, and Camper Vans are all permitted and the site provides excellent amenities including hot showers. Masons also have bell tents, Airstream Caravans, and VW Campervans available for hire. Fire pits and bags of pre-chopped firewood are also available for a small fee.
Renting A Holiday Cottage
If camping is not really your scene, and your idea of getting closer to nature is relaxing in the garden with a nice glass of red, then check out the gorgeous holiday cottages on gorgeouscottages.com, not all properties permit pets, so if you are thinking of taking the family dog on holiday with you, be sure that the property you book is tagged as pet friendly. There are plenty of great holiday properties to choose from, and with prices starting at around £120 per night, renting a holiday cottage in Yorkshire is far more economical than you might assume.
If you are thinking of staying in a hotel when you visit the Yorkshire dales, then unless you are happy to commute into the dales every day, choices are somewhat limited. In fact, the Traddock Hotel in Austwick is the only hotel within the boundaries of the Yorkshire Dales, fortunately the hotel makes up for this shortfall by being rather excellent. The Traddock has a five star AA rating and has won numerous awards. It also appears in the Good Hotel Guide.
